The PCC meets on Thursday evening at 7.30pm.
Friday 24th April is the Feast Day of St Mark. We remember St Mark as the author/collator of the Gospel which bears his name, probably the first of the four Gospels to be set down in the form in which we have them. Mark joined St Paul and St Barnabas on their first missionary journey and later spent time with St Paul and St Peter in Rome. His Gospel is based on the teaching and memoirs of St Peter. St Mark is thought to have established the Church in Alexandria, and to have died as a martyr there.
Thursday 23rd is the Feast Day of St George, thought to be a soldier living in Palestine at the beginning of the fourth century. He was martyred at Lydda in 304, the beginning of the Diocletian persecution, and widely revered throughout the Christian East. He replaced Edward the Confessor as the patron saint of England following the Crusades, and Edward III made him patron of the Order of the Garter.
FOR OUR PRAYERS:
We give thanks and praise to Almighty God for the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and for the Salvation won for us by his passion, death and resurrection. We pray that our church will be filled with the love and joy of the Risen Christ.
We pray for the PCC meeting this week. We pray for the building up of our church at St Michael’s in faith and love; we pray for trust and joy in our ministry together, that we would be a vibrant, enthusiastic and welcoming church community dedicated to sharing the love of God with all who we meet and all who come through our doors.
We pray for those in need, and especially Glynis Reynolds, Yvonne Young, Lindsay Wheeler, Martyn Nash, David Green, Norman Farrington, Phil and Marion, Joe, Keira, Freya, Isaac, Lexie Nicholson, Sarah, Janet and Alan.
We pray for the recently departed. We remember those who have faithfully served God in this Church in previous generations, and we pray for those whose year’s mind occurs this week: Harry Mills, Mary Taylor, Kathleen Clifford, Peggy Thresh.
