Services this week: Said Mass on Thursday at 10.30am; next Sunday Sung Mass for the Feast of the Assumption at 10.30am – both followed by Tea, Coffee and Cake.

Saints and Memorials this week: Monday – St. Laurence, Deacon at Rome martyred in the year 258; Tuesday – St. Clare of Assisi, companion of St Francis, the first woman to write a religious rule for women, 1253; also on Tuesday the CofE celebrates St. John Henry Newman, Priest, Oxford Movement leader, theologian and Cardinal, 1890 (the Roman Church remembers him on 9 October); Thursday - Jeremy Taylor, Anglican Bishop and theologian; Friday – St. Maximillian Kolbe, Polish Franciscan priest and missionary, who was sent to Auschwitz by the Nazis and who gave his life there in exchange for another prisoner. He died on 14th August 1941. The prisoner survived the war and was present in Rome for the canonisation of St. Maximilian in 1982. Saturday 15th August is VJ Day which marks the surrender of Japan to the Western allies. We pray for world peace.

A very big Thank You to all who supported our Organ Recital and Summer Tea yesterday. We are grateful to Levente Vas for the recital, and a very big Thank You to all who worked so hard to provide the Tea, Cakes and other refreshments.

Saturday 29th August – FiF Pilgrimage Day at Aylesford Priory, 11am Mass with +Luke, Rosary pm, bring a picnic! All welcome.

FOR OUR PRAYERS:

We pray for all Christian Aid agencies that bring food and medical care to those in need in places of famine or war, especially Mary’s Meals. In the Richborough Cycle of Prayer we pray this week for parishes in vacancy in the See of Richborough, and for Society Parishes in the dioceses of Canterbury and Chelmsford, their Priests and people.

We pray for those in need, and especially Glynis Reynolds, Yvonne Young, Lindsay Wheeler, David Green, Norman Farrington, Phil and Marion, Joe, Keira, Freya, Isaac, Lexie Nicholson, Sarah, Janet, Ralph Austin, Isobel and Fay, Ruby Corquaye.

We pray for the recently departed, including Linda Martin. We remember those who have faithfully served God in this place in previous generations, and for those whose year’s mind occurs this week: Doreen Dukes, Arthur Edward Pilbeam.
