Thomas was born at Bexley Heath in 1891 when his Dad was a Met Police pensioner and baptised at St Peter’s Maidstone on 29th December 1892. In 1901 aged 10 his mother had died and he lived at 27 Bower Place, Maidstone with his Dad, brothers Albert, Henry and James and his sister Rosina.
